The Strange and the Sacrilege 

The assignment for which I wrote my essay was an analysis of one or more songs/poems using analytical tools from Helen Vendler’s “Poems, Poets, Poetry: An Introduction and Anthology”. I used the lenses of intertextuality (the ways one text is related to others) and repetition to analyze two songs which reference the Adam and Eve narrative from the Bible, and track how they use the original symbols to twist the meaning into something new.
